Uplyst brings information from existing systems into a shared business knowledge model. Access, data movement and workflow design depend on the systems and operating requirements of your organization.

| Boundary | Current evidence | Source unavailable |
|---|---|---|
| Source boundary | Required order observation is available | Current order state is unconfirmed |
| Context boundary | Relationships preserve source meaning | Retained relationships keep their evidence and timestamps |
| Action boundary | Any proposed response still requires authority | Response waits for reconciled quantities |
Source access, business definitions, relationships, analysis and workflows each have a distinct role. They are logical responsibilities; they do not have to map to separate deployed services.
Uplyst brings these capabilities together. The deployment design depends on your infrastructure, source interfaces, security requirements and operating model.

Source connections handle authentication, queries or extraction, change capture and source identifiers. Operational status needs to show whether the information is current and complete as well as whether the connection is available.
Federation can reduce movement for suitable queries. Materialized views can support history or isolate source load. Event streams carry changes relevant to a decision. Each approach has its own consistency and recovery requirements.
The semantic model defines concepts, relationships, constraints and owners. The knowledge graph connects those concepts to enterprise records and evidence, supporting questions that cross application boundaries.
The model has a defined scope. Identity conflicts, missing relationships and changing definitions need ongoing handling, and uncertain connections must remain distinguishable from confirmed ones.
Analytics applies measures, rules or models to relevant context, keeping observed information distinct from inference. Workflows connect a decision to approval, execution and recovery.
Permission to investigate does not imply permission to act. Updating an ERP record requires explicit authority and confirmation from the system that owns the transaction, with safeguards against repeated effects.
| Responsibility | Requirements |
|---|---|
| Source access | Credentials, limits, freshness and recovery |
| Semantic context | Definitions, identity and ownership |
| Enterprise knowledge | Relationships, evidence and change |
| Analysis | Measures, uncertainty and explanation |
| Workflow | Approvals, permissions and business effects |
Traces, metrics and logs help teams follow source operations, transformations, queries and workflow steps. Diagnostic information must be handled with the same care as other sensitive data.
A source outage, revoked identity, revised contract or delayed event may stop one part of the process while others continue. Defined recovery points and clear status help operators decide what can resume.
Access changes affect source connections, retained information and downstream views.
Affected definitions, consumers and decisions may need another review.
Event time and sequence determine how a late observation changes the operational view.
